Can importWiz be run against a remote database?

Hi,

We are running 7.2.2.  We have looked at the documentation for the import wizard, but it doesn't specify if it must be run against the host database or whether it will also work on a remote database (i.e- create transactions to be sent back to the host) .  It only asks for a connection, and doesn't say "This program can only be run against the host database", but I am not sure....

Friendly advice.. Don't go down this road.. Importing on a remote is very dangerous business. We have had to pick up the pieces several times when folks have done this.

Re: Can importWiz be run against a remote database?

Welcome!...  It's not that it's not technically possible.. it's .. well.. like handing an AK47 to someone who has no concept as to where the bullet emerges! They can pull the trigger fine but look out!

It's a lot easier to deal w/mistakes on the main db. If you have to have someone do imports that is a "remote", setup a terminal server session where he/she can login and do it there.
