SalesLogix returns error "You must quit word before proceeding. Use the Task Manager toterminate WINWORD.EXE"

SLX 7.5.1 LAN
Vista
Office 2007

Has anyone run into this problem?
When trying to do a Mail Merge in SLX, it returns an error saying "You must quit word before proceeding.  Use the Task Manager to terminate WINWORD.EXE."

Word is not running as an application, and we found an instance of it in Processes.  When that's removed and the user tries to do the mail merge again, it shows up in Processes again.

Re: SalesLogix returns error "You must quit word before proceeding. Use the Task Manager to terminate WINWORD.EXE"

It's doing what is supposed to do.

However, if you have a "failure" on a merge, it is possible you might end up w/a "hung" process w/word still there.

What Version/SP/build level of SalesLogix are you using?.. and is it Windows or Web?

FYI.. unless you have 7.5.4.xxxx then if you have IE9 - you WILL have problems...

If you have access to the 7.54 SLXMMENGINE.dll file and you're on either 7.52 or 7.53, just replace the DLL in the program files directory to get you around this issue. I don't know if this works on 7.50 or 7.51.

It's because your mail merge is set to use HTML components and IE9 seems to break this.

Correct.. this is a work-around to the problem of IE9. However, it has not ever been issued as a hot fix..
