Clearing a data field in the web client

Hi,

SLX Web 7.5.1

I have a bound date field on the opportunity field, which is blank when the opportunity is open.  If they change the status to closed-won the field becomes manadtory and they complete a date, if the change the status again I want to clear the field out so it does not post the date to the database or it clears out the date in the database if there is one there, I am having trouble with which value to set and what to set it to.
