2011 is almost over and it’s hard to believe that we are at the end of another year. There’s no doubt that the undulating economy has presented challenges and opportunities to just about every industry, in many countries throughout the world. At the same time, advances in technology revealed exciting new ways of doing business. As the music of “Auld Lang Syne” signals the departure of 2011, we can be certain that 2012 will also bring change and innovation that will both challenge and thrill us.
The custom of singing “Auld Lang Syne” comes to us from Scotland, where New Year’s Eve is called “Hogmanay”. Another Scottish custom is ‘first-footing’, in which the first person to cross your threshold after midnight brings gifts to encourage good luck for the coming year. Traditional gifts include coal, whisky, or shortbread, and are believed to be luckiest when carried by a tall, dark man.
However you celebrate the arrival of the New Year, all of us on the Sage SalesLogix “Design and Doc” team (Angie, Josh, Lori, and Mari) wish you peace and prosperity in 2012. And may a tall, dark man bring you coal after midnight.
