I can only add new Contacts to an Opportunity. I need to be able to add existing Contacts as well.
Ideally, i would also like to be able to select a Contact record on Opportunity entry.
Scenario 1: Create a new Opportunity from a Contact record. The contact record you were in is added to the Opportunity but you can only add additional new Contacts to the Opportunity
Scenario 2: Create a new Opportunity from an Account record. I cannot add a Contact at Oppo entry. Once the Opportunity has been created, i can only add new Contacts to the Opportunity- not link to an existing opportunity.
Scenario 3: An existing Opportunity. I want to add an additional Contact (having just found out the Decision Maker, 3rd Party Consultant etc). I can create them as a new record but I cannot add them if they already exist in my SLX database.
The standard query builder when you add a new group is quite daunting for most standard users and finding the relevant fields can be quite difficult if you don't know the database structure - e.g. seccodeID field gives no clue that it is actually the owner field.
in 7.5.3 web client - filtering is a great way of getting to the data you need quickly and easily without having to build a query. However once you have filtered the data you can create a group but it is a static group and not dynamic.
I think a great way of building simple dynamic groups very quickly and easily (without having to use query builder) would be to have another common task option called Save records as a dynamic group. This option, would create a new group with the existing group conditions plus the new conditions you have applied with the filter automatically to the conditions of the query.
This would free up administrators from having to create simple groups for users who are not comfortable with the create groups function (which is most of the users in our organisation).
With the release of Windows2008 R2 and the big push for 64 bit desktops/laptops it's time we have an option in the install that would give us 64 bit versions of all the SalesLogix applications.
This does not have to be a "mixed" (32/64 bit) on a given system but should allow us to install either the 64 bit or the 32 bit on a given platform. What would be really nice is that it does an auto-discovery (this should be very easy) if the platform is 32 or 64 bit and "default" to the correct one.
What we need for tablets (iPad, Zoom, et al) is the new SLX Mobile Client to put the 'home' page on the left hand side of the screen as a SiteMap/ribbon/Nav Bar. AutoMagically.
We've got these nice 7" and 10" wide tablets [need I mention browsers on laptop and desktop computers???!!!) and the SLX Mobile client needs to be more Native AppLike, Monitor size aware, and user friendly.
Thanks!
Not really an idea however was advised to post it here.
Can we get full support for UAC to be enabled, we have seen numerous issues when UAC is left on and whilst some smaller environments are happy to have this disabled, more and more larger clients are requesting the ability to have UAC fully supported.

It would be great to avoid phone calls from users, to log off all users from slx with a short message.
I do not know if this is possible in web but it would be great to let the users know that you are doing something in the system which requires them to log off.
Or post some global message which can be seen by all users.
Something like this!!
Submitted by a Business Partner with UK Support.
SalesLogix Version : Saleslogix 7.5.4 Web
When thre are too many results returned the following message is displayed.
“The SpeedSearch 'Maximum search results' has been exceeded. Please refine your search criteria to minimize the result set returned or contact your Administrator to increase the 'Maximum search results' value for the SalesLogix system.”
This can result in a users calling the Administrator everytime a speedsearch search is carried out. From a users perspective they would like a more 'user friendly' message to be displayed instead for example,
““Please refine your search by going to advanced options and selecting more filters as there are too many potential matches currently”
Kind Regards

We have had several clients ask for the ability to track statistics related to when a user logged in and how long they were active.
They find this valuable because it helps upper management see the usage and value of SalesLogix.
Conversely if for some reason certain users are not active, it helps identify them so they can be trained better and encouraged to use SalesLogix.
The ability to export this data to excel would be ideal.
Could we have the ability to roll out both intellisync and the desktop manager so they can be installed for users who have locked down desktops.

Craig
With the growth of Google Apps it would be very beneficial to have email and calendar integration with Gmail and Google Calendar. Google is making a big push into the business world. Many companies are adopting Gmail and ditching older industry standards for online alternatives.
Having some basic applications that allow SLX to integrate "Send SLX", "Record to History", and "Calendar Integration" would make a world of difference and not limit SLX to one primary email platform.
Is there progress in this area? Do any third parties offer a currently available solution?
I plan to create a series of Webinars on all my mods but since this seems to be a hot topic I thought I would just get it up here now. This mod will show you what filters you have turned on. You can click on the filter name and it will expand or close the filter group. Right now it will not respect the clearing of a filter but I'm hoping we get the event soon so I can update the code to repect that change.

When creating Groups in the Web, there is an option to Hide Hidden Fields. Surely this should be "Show Hidden Fields" by default? If an Administrator sets a field to "hidden", the user shouldn't then have to click "Hide Hidden Fields" to actually hide it!
My reason for this is the Group Builder can be daunting for a new user, there are so many tables and fields. Most of the fields are not used, so it would be very useful to hide the unused fields and them be hidden by default to make this screen more user friendly.
The fields in the "Layout" of a Group should be in a Frame, so scrolling left and right only scrolls the fields in the layout, not everything on the screen. This would improve usability, because when fields are added to the layout they are added to the right, you often have to scroll across to see them and move them into position, but scrolling across often hides the "Move Left" button. See attached example.
Also I may have mentioned it before but on this screen, Hidden fields should be hidden by default, and the user should be forced to click "Show Hidden Fields" if they want them displayed.
Users often find the Group Builder confusing because many tables are full of fields they will never need to use. E.g. Notifyonclose or Salesengineerid.
I want to hide many fields in the DB Manager and have SLX hide them by default in the Group Builder.
Would definitely help with user buy in.
When you use the Move Contact feature, the Move Options are hidden and you have to click the button to Show Move Options. The unfortunate part of this is that the default is not actually Move, instead it is Copy. So, if the user forgets to show the Move options they are actually copying the contact and not moving it. I find this to be a really poor design. I would prefer to see the Options expanded when the window opens. And the option should default to Move instead of Copy - it is the Move feature after all.
With the cloud (and cloud/on-premise hybrid) being taken very seriously by businesses these days, we need to be able to integrates w/these services/capabilities OOTB. This applies to ALL the client offerings (LAN/Windows, web, and mobile).
We have been receiving complaints from nearly all of our web customers about the Sage Customer Satisfaction survey. They are saying that it's intrusive and unprofessional. They would expect this out of a freeware product but not in a fully paid for and advanced CRM system like SLX.
Disabling this survey is quite a straight forward task but should we have to? Is there no other way of garning customer opinion of SalesLogix other that flashing a pop-up? Even when told not to ask again, it seems to rear its head again some months down the line.
In our organisation we use the leads area quite heavily but importing of leads the function is limited to one or two users so all lists for import can be vetted before import for data integrity. The tool allows you to specify an owner but not an account manager and takes the account manager from the user importing the leads which does not work for our organisation due to the import function being centralised. The added limitation in the leads entity of not being able to realign territories or mass replace data on means that you cannot correct these misallocations of account managers.
It would be really useful (at a minimum) to have the ability to nominate the account manager during the import process function. The best solution would be to have the ability to allocate account managers to individual records in the csv file which you could then map during the import process to account managers in Saleslogix (much the same as the import wizard allows you to do).
We want to hear your cool ideas for enhancing Sage SalesLogix products and services. So add your own ideas or kudo (vote) on the ideas of others here! Watch the most valuable bubble to the top!
I have an idea! How do I get started?
