An update service to handle HF's, SP's, etc automatically

Status: New Idea

We need an update service just like Microsoft has for Windows (and other installed MS products).

Basically there would be a master update server at Sage SalesLogix where QA releases "snippit" style updates on a regular basis. Customer sites would have a "SalesLogix Update Server" which communicates with the master update server and authenticates the customer server (this ties into Maintenance renewal and customerID  plus a unique "key" issued to the update server for authentication.

Changes/updates would land on the customer server and be "released" by the local SalesLogix admin.

Sound relay good.

This would also make the update process easier for local admins, as all the clients would get the update without having a person run from pc to pc.

Great idea.

I like it but it would have to be done right .  It could be a cluster if there were not controls on this.

SP's ahd HF's would have to look (and be packaged) completely different than they are now.

It would need to have the same kind of "smarts" that Microsoft put into their update services.

Done right, Sage could use this for EVERY product they produce.
